How Setkit works
Setkit is built on a simple bet: if every exercise is described as structured data instead of loose text, the library can do more than be read. It can be filtered, cross-linked and assembled into workouts that make sense.
Exercises are data
Every exercise in the library declares its required equipment, primary and secondary muscles, movement pattern, mechanics (compound or isolation), difficulty, suitable training styles, and its verified relationships: progressions that make it harder, regressions that make it easier, and substitutions that swap equipment while keeping the pattern.
Those declarations are what power the site. An equipment page lists exactly the exercises you can do with that gear; a muscle page separates exercises that target a muscle from those that merely involve it; and the generator never has to guess what an exercise is for.
Why figures, not photos
Exercise demonstrations are stored as pose data: a handful of key positions, each a set of joint coordinates, with a coaching cue per stage. The site draws them as consistent line figures. The same style for every exercise, readable at thumbnail size, animated between stages where your browser allows it, and always accompanied by the static stage-by-stage strip.
This is a deliberate trade. Photos and video show more surface detail, but they vary by model, angle and lighting. Pose-data figures make the movement the star: the joint angles, the range and the sequence, which is what form actually is. Adding a new exercise means writing a few coordinates.

Muscle maps from the same data
The anatomy highlights on every exercise page are generated from the exercise's own muscle declarations, solid for primary movers and faded for assisting muscles. Nothing is drawn per exercise, so the maps can never disagree with the data.
The drawing engine reads the target list and decides what to show. It counts the active regions, determines whether the lift is front-dominant or back-dominant, and drops the irrelevant view. Symmetrical muscles are authored once and mirrored mathematically. Update the frontmatter, and the map updates with it.
How the generator builds a session
The generator works in five steps, all on your device:
- Filter the pool. Only exercises whose equipment you selected, whose difficulty fits your level, and whose style matches your goal survive. Timed high-fatigue formats additionally require conditioning-suitable movements.
- Plan the slots. Your format, focus and duration expand into a slot plan. A 45-minute full-body hypertrophy session becomes a squat slot, a hinge slot, a push, a pull, and accessory slots, in that order. Circuits alternate lower, upper and core stations instead.
- Fill each slot. Candidates are scored for pattern match, how much new muscle coverage they add, difficulty fit and variety, with a pinch of randomness so regenerating gives a fresh but equally sensible session.
- Prescribe. Sets, reps and rest come from your goal and each exercise's mechanics; isometric holds get seconds; formats with fixed timing get their work/rest scheme.
- Fit the clock. Each slot's time cost is estimated, and the plan is trimmed from the least essential end until it fits your session length.
Every exercise it picks can be swapped for the next-best candidate under the same constraints, and links to its full guide. The generator is a view over the library rather than a black box.
Movement patterns
Balance in Setkit means balancing patterns, not just muscles. The library classifies every exercise into one of 14 patterns:
Calf isolation
Heel-raise work for the calves.
Core brace
Holding the trunk still against something trying to move it. Planks, holds and anti-rotation presses.
Core dynamic
Controlled movement through the trunk. Dead bugs, leg raises and rotation work.
Elbow extension
Isolated straightening of the arm for the triceps.
Elbow flexion
Isolated curling for the biceps and forearms.
Hinge
Hips push back and fold while the back stays flat. The deadlift, swing and bridge family.
Horizontal pull
Rowing something toward your torso. The counterweight to every press, and what holds your posture up.
Horizontal push
Pressing away from your chest. Push-ups and bench presses.
Locomotion
Whole-body movement for conditioning. Burpees, mountain climbers and carries.
Lunge
One leg forward, one back. Single-leg work that builds leg strength and balance at the same time.
Shoulder isolation
Raises and small-range shoulder work for the deltoids.
Squat
Knees and hips bend together while your torso stays upright. Sitting down and standing up under control.
Vertical pull
Pulling down from overhead. Pull-ups, chin-ups and pulldowns.
Vertical push
Pressing overhead. Shoulder presses and pike push-up progressions.
What Setkit doesn't claim
Setkit provides general fitness information and generated training suggestions. It is not medical advice, physiotherapy, rehabilitation guidance or a personalized coaching service, and it doesn't diagnose or treat anything.
You will find no promises here about guaranteed muscle growth, fat loss, hormone effects, injury cures or timelines. Training outcomes depend on consistency, effort, recovery, nutrition and individual variation. The honest answer to "how fast will this work" is always "it depends, and slower than the internet says."
