Pull-up bar exercises
Pulling your own bodyweight upward is the hardest pattern to train without equipment, and a doorway pull-up bar solves it for the price of a takeaway dinner. Pull-ups and chin-ups are still the clearest test of upper-body strength relative to your size. The same bar anchors hanging leg raises and band-assisted work.
The bar is worth owning before you can do a single pull-up. Dead hangs build grip and get your shoulders used to carrying your weight. Band-assisted reps let you practice the movement itself. Slow negatives, where you jump to the top and lower yourself over about five seconds, are the fastest route to a first strict rep.
Check the mounting before every session. A doorframe bar that shifts under load fails in a way that drops you, and this is the one piece of home equipment where a hard tug before you start is worth the two seconds.
